Ai Haibara, also known by her real name Shiho Miyano, is a fictional character in the Japanese anime and manga series Detective Conan (also known as Case Closed). She is depicted as a young girl with short lavender hair and big brown eyes. Her hair is usually tied in a ponytail on the left side of her head, emphasizing her slender neck. Despite her young appearance, Ai is actually a teenager who has been transformed into a child due to a cocktail of poisons. She often wears a white long-sleeved shirt, black shorts, and black stockings. With her small but agile build, Ai possesses a stealthy and sharp presence that adds to her intrigue.

Initially introduced as a former member of the Black Organization, a secret organization of criminals, Ai was forced to flee and transform into a child in order to escape their wrath. She eventually encounters the protagonist of the series, Shinichi Kudo, who also happens to be a teenage detective transformed into a child. The two become allies and Ai aids Shinichi in his attempts to unravel the mysteries behind the Black Organization. Throughout the series, Ai employs her vast scientific knowledge to assist Shinichi in solving cases and creating antidotes for their transformative condition. Along the way, she also develops a close bond with the other characters in the series, particularly with the clumsy detective, Mitsuhiko Tsuburaya.
