Ritsuka Uenoyama is a fictional character from the anime "Given." He is a tall and slim male with a handsome and gentle face that is emphasized by his deep blue eyes. He has short black hair, layered and styled with jagged bangs that cover his forehead. Ritsuka's physical appearance is a familiar feature of most anime male characters. He wears his school uniform most of the time, a white button-down shirt and black pants that fits nicely to his physique.

Ritsuka Uenoyama is a guitarist who used to be passionate about it until he met Mafuyu Sat?, a boy that sings but does not know how to play a guitar. His friend, Haruki Nakayama, persuades him to teach Mafuyu to play the guitar. As Ritsuka teaches the latter, Mafuyu gradually opens up about his painful past, and Ritsuka realizes the reason why he stopped loving the guitar. As Ritsuka slowly falls for Mafuyu, the latter reveals that he is gay and has fallen in love with him. However, Ritsuka is initially confused about his feelings for Mafuyu, but eventually, as they spend more time together, he reciprocates Mafuyu's feelings. As the series continues, we can see Ritsuka and Mafuyu's romantic relationship progressing with their shared passion for music binding them.
