Raphtalia is a fictional anime character who is charming and cute with a slender and petite built. She has brown hair that is combed backward, making her appearance elegant and regal. Notably, her hair is long and curly at the ends, emphasizing her delicate and innocent features. Her eyes are blue and big, making them stand out alongside her round face. Furthermore, Raphtalia outfits vary throughout the anime, but she is typically seen wearing a skimpy brown dress complemented with white apron, brown boots, and gloves. She cuts an adorable and sympathetic figure throughout the series.

Raphtalia's story in the anime, The Rising of the Shield Hero, begins when she was a child and her parents and friends were killed by monsters known as the Wave. She was enslaved and bought by the protagonist, Naofumi Iwatani, a shield hero who got betrayed by the kingdom. Raphtalia became Naofumi's sword after he saved her from severe malnutrition and the effects of the slave mark. She learned to harness her powers as a demi-human raccoon-type slave with a high level of agility, speed, and dexterity. Gradually, she finds a connection with Naofumi, and their master and servant relationship evolves to a romantic pair. Raphtalia helps her master to overcome discrimination and hatred as they seek to save their world from the curse of the Waves.
