Isaac Clarke is a fictional protagonist in the Dead Space video game series. Isaac is portrayed as a tall and athletically-built man with a bald head and facial hair. He wears a high-tech engineering suit that provides him with protection from the threats of space, including radiation and extreme temperatures. Isaac's suit is equipped with a helmet that has a glowing blue display on the front, which shows vital information such as his current health and oxygen levels. Overall, Isaac is presented as a rugged, capable, and battle-hardened survivor.

Isaac's story begins as a systems engineer for the Concordance Extraction Corporation (CEC), a multinational corporation with interests in mining and exploration. At the start of Dead Space, Isaac is sent to investigate an interstellar mining vessel, the USG Ishimura, which has gone silent. It is during this mission that Isaac discovers that the Ishimura has been overrun by an alien artifact known as the Marker. The Marker has the power to reanimate corpses and transform them into horrific monstrosities, known as Necromorphs. Isaac must fight his way through hordes of Necromorphs to escape the Ishimura and reveal the truth behind the Marker. In Dead Space 2, Isaac is a patient in a mental institution suffering from hallucinations brought on by exposure to the Marker. He once again finds himself fighting against the Necromorph outbreak, this time on the Sprawl, a humongous space station orbiting a densely populated planet. Finally, in Dead Space 3, Isaac and his team are sent to investigate the lost planet Tau Volantis, where they discover the origin of the Necromorphs and the true nature of the Marker.
