Her hair is cut in a messy, straight bob and she often wears a black witch hat with a yellow ribbon. Marisa is known for her distinctive outfit consisting of a black and white dress, a red necktie and black and white boots. She is often depicted carrying a broomstick, which doubles as a weapon and a mode of transportation.

Marisa Kirisame plays a prominent role in the Touhou Project series. She is a friend of the main protagonist, Reimu Hakurei, and often assists her in solving incidents that occur in their home of Gensokyo. Marisa is a skilled magician and is known for her signature spell, "Master Spark", which is a powerful blast of energy that she shoots from her fingertips.
